AVOID RUBBING YOUR EYES BECAUSE YOU CAN DAMAGE THEM IF YOU RUB TOO HARD OR TOO OFTEN!
(healthline.com)
There are several different health conditions that can cause you to rub your eyes. These include:
Conjunctivitis or pink eye is a common infection that makes your eye itch.You usually get it from bacteria or a virus on your fingers that is transmitted when you touch your eye. The infection often causes your eye to turn pink or red.
Another common symtom is yellow or clear liquid on your lashes or in the corners of your eyes. This infection doesn't usually cause pain, but you may have an itching feeling that causes you to rub your eyes.Conjunctivitis is highly contagious and it's spread easily by coming into contact with someone who is infected.
Allergies; Some people who have allergies experience itchy eyes, causing them to rub their eyes. One study found that rubbing your eyes when exposed to an allergen causes you to feel the need to rub them more.
Other symtoms that go along with allergies are sneezing, watery eyes and a stuffy nose. Some people have seasonal allergies due to what is growing outside. Others can be allergic to food, insect sting or medications.
Some additional causes include:
1. Blepharitis is caused when the eyelids are inflamed because oil glands are clogged. Some of the symtoms might include itchy or swollen eyes and crusted eyelashes.
2. Eyestrain is caused when your eyes are tired after looking really hard at something. This can cause burning or itching.
3. Dry eyes are caused when your eyes aren't producing enough tears. This can cause your eye to feel itchy.
The common cold and sinusitis can also make your eyes itch, as can wearing contact lenses or having a foreign object in your eyes.
You do cause injury by rubbing your eyes; Rubbing frequently might damage the lens of your eye or the cornea. This could result in vision impairment or an infection that needs medical attention. You should call your doctor right away if you experience:
: eye pain
: light sensitivity
: reduced vision
: blurry vision
: redness or inflammation
: headache
: nausea
: fatigue
These could be symtoms of eye damage and should be evaluated right away!
Tips to stop rubbing your eyes:
The best way to stop rubbing your eyes is to treat the underlying cause that is making them itch. Teatment can include:
a) Over the-counter medication; Saline or eye drops can cleanse your eyes and flush out any dirt that might be causing irritation.
b) Prescription medication; A doctor will have to prescribe medicine to treat conjunctivitis. You might also need medication or shots if you have allergies.
You can also apply a warm compress to your eyes to relieve irritation.
Try these tips if you're rubbing your eyes as a habit, instead of as a reaction to a symtom:
1) Become aware of what you are doing with your hands. Resist the urge to rub your eyes.
2) Wear gloves or mittens when you are finding it hard to keep your fingers from your face. Having something covering your fingers will make the rubbing difficult.
3) Find something else to do with your hands. You could aqueeze a stressball or rub a smooth rock.
See your doctor if you're had prolonged symtoms of dry eyes, including red, irritated, tired or painful eyes. Your doctor can take steps to determine what's bothering your eyes or refer you to a specialist.
Be sure to keep your hands clean. This will help keep germs from spreading to your face and your eyes.
Rest for your eyes:
Closing your eyes for just a few minutes is helpful. You can do this once an hour or many times when you're hard at work.
And if your job involves sitting in front of a computer or reading, closing your eyes can be refreshing. As simple as it sounds, this exercise can protect your eyes from over exertion or fatigue.
Full body exercise for vision:
Exercising for atleast 20 minutes a day is healthy for your entire body, including your eyes. Improved blood circulation is beneficial to the small blood vessels in the eyes as it removes harmful substances that may have been deposited. Exercise doesn't have to be intense. In fact, a brisk walk is enough. (VersantHealth.com)
Eyes only- Vision to Sight
Your eyesight is one of your most important senses: 80% of what we perceive comes through our sense of sight.
By protecting your eyes, you will
reduce the odds of blindness and vision loss while also staying on top
of any developing eye diseases such as cateracts and glaucoma.
The parts of the brain and the eye together allow you to see and
completes your vision. For instance, the lens, retina and optic nerve
and other parts of your eyes make you change light and electrical
signals into images.
According to (heartland-eye); Eyesight is something that takes place in the eye. People wear glases or contact lenses in order to improve eyesight or clarity of what they see. ... In contrast to eyesight, vision takes place in the brain. The brain receives the clear image and then vision is the process of understanding and analyzing the image.
Ten best foods for eye health (According to American Optometric Association) ;
1.) Fish; Many fish are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids for example tuna, salmon, trout, mackerel, sardines, anchovies and herring.
Some studies have found that fish oil can reverse dry eye caused by spending too much time on a computer.
2.) Nuts and legumes; Nuts are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids and contains a high level of vitamin E, which can protect the eye from age-related damage.
Nuts and
legumes that are good for eye health include: walnuts, Brazil nuts,
cashews, peanuts and lentils.
3.) Seeds; Seeds are high in omega-3s and are rich source of vitamin E.
Seeds high in omega 3 include:chia seeds, flax seeds and hemp seeds.

recommended by the (AOA)to fight age-related eye damage.
Vitamin C -
rich citrus fruits include; lemons, oranges and grapefruits.
5.) Leafy green vegetables; Leafy green vegetables are rich in both lutein and zeaxanthin and are also a good source of eye-friendly vitamin C.
Well-known leafy greens include: spinach, kale and collards.
6.) Carrots; Carrots are rich in both Vitamin A and beta carotene. The orange color of carrot comes from beta carotene. Moreover, vitamin A plays an essential role in vision.
It is a component of a protein called
rhodopsin, which helps the retina to absorb light. The body needs beta
carotene to make vitamin A.
They are also a good source of the antioxidant vitamin E.
8.) Beef;
Beef is rich in zinc, which has been linked to better long-term eye
health. Zinc can help delay age-related sight loss and macular
degeneration. Furthermore, the eye itself contains high levels of zinc,
particularly in the retina and the vascular tissue surrounding the
retina.
Beef contains very high levels of zinc compared to other meats which have zinc but at lower levels than beef.
9.) Eggs; Eggs are excellent source of lutein and zeaxanthin, which can reduce the risk of age-related sight loss..
Eggs are also good sources of vitamins C and E and zinc.

have found that bananas have carotenoid - compound that turn fruits and
vegetables red, orange or yellow and are converted into vitamin A,
important precursors for eye health - in the liver. (hindustantimes.com)
Other
important vitamins for good eyesight and vision are for instance
vitamin C and vitamin E because they are antioxidant agents against
cataracts and macular degeneration! They are extremely important for
health reasons.
10 ways to improve your eyesight (healthline.com)
Getting regular eye check-ups and preventing injuries or illnesses that could harm your vision is one of many ways you can improve your eyesight.
1.) Get enough key vitamins and minerals;
Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as the mineral zinc, contains antioxidants that can help prevent macular degeneration. It's a condition in which the macula - the part of the eye that controls central vision - deteriorates.
Food sources for these important nutrients include a variety of colourful vegetables and fruits, such as: Carrots, red peppers, broccoli, spinach, strawberries, sweet potato and citrus. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon and flaxseed, are also recommended for better eye health.
2.) Don't forget the carotenoids;
A few nutrients are also keys to improving eyesight. Among them are lutein and zeaxanthin, which are carotenoids found in the retina. You can also find them in leafy green vegetables, broccoli, zucchini and eggs. Lutein and zeaxanthin can also be taken in supplement form.
These carotenoids help protect the macula by improving pigment density in that part of the eye, and absorbing ultraviolet and blue light.
3.) Stay fit;
Yes, exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can help your eyes, not just your waistline. Type 2 diabetes, which is more common in people who are overweight or obese, can cause damage to the tiny blood vessels in the eyes.
This condition is called diabetic retinopathy. Too much sugar circulating in your bloodstream injures the delicate walls of your arteries. Diabetic retinopathy causes the very small arteries in your retina - the light - sensitive back part of the eye - to leak blood and fluid into the eye, harming your vision.
Getting your blood sugar levels checked regularly and staying fit and trim can lower your odds of developing type 2 diabetes and its many complications.
4.) Manage chronic conditions:
Diabetes is't the only disease that can affect your vision. Other conditions, such as high blood pressure and multiple sclerosis, can affect your eyesight. These conditions are linked to chronic inflammation, which can harm your health from head to toe.
Inflammation of the optic nerve, for example can cause pain and even complete vision loss. While a disease such as multiple sclerosis can't be prevented, you can try to manage it with healthy habits and medications. High blood pressure can be effectively treated with a heart - healthy diet, exercise and antihypertensive medications.
5.) Wear protective eyewear;
Whether you're playing racquetball, working in your garage, or doing a science experiment in school, it's vital that you protect your eyes with appropriate eyewear.
Tough, protective eyewear is essential if there is a risk of chemicals, sharp objects, or materials such as wood shaving, metal shards, or even a stray elbow during a basketball game, entering your eye.
Many protective goggles are made with a type of polycarbonate, which is about 10 times tougher than other forms of plastic.
6.) That includes sunglasses; Sunglasses aren't just for looking cool. Wearing shades is one of the most important steps you can take when it comes to improving your eyesight. You want sunglasses that block out 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB radiation from sunlight.
Sunglasses help protect your eyes from conditions that stem from eye damage. These include cataracts, macular degeneration, and pterygium - a growth of tissue over the white part of the eye. Pterygiums can lead to astigmatism, which can cause blurred vision. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat can also help protect your eyes from sun damage.
7.) Follow the 20-20-20 rule;
Your eyes work hard during the day and need a break now and then. The strain can be especially intense if you work at a computer for long stretches at a time. To ease the strain follow the 20-20-20 rule.
That means every 20 minutes, you should stop staring at your computer and look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
8.) Quit smoking; You know smoking is bad for your lungs and your heart, not to mention your hair, skin, teeth, and just about every other body part. That includes your eyes, too. Smoking dramatically raises your risk of developing cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
Fortunately, your eyes, lungs, heart, and other body parts can start to recover from years of tobacco-induced harm within the first hours of quitting. And the longer you can avoid cigarettes, the more your blood vessels will benefit and inflammation will ease off throughout your eyes and the rest of you.
9.) Learn your family's eye health history;
Some eye conditions are hereditary, so being aware of eye conditions that your parents or grandparents had can help you take precautions.
Hereditary conditions include: Glaucoma, retinal degeneration, age-related macular degeneration and optic atrophy.Understanding your family history can help you take early precautions.
10.) Keep your hands and lenses clean;
Your eyes are especially vulnerable to germs and infections. Even things that just irritate your eyes can affect your vision. For those reasons, you should always wash your hands before touching your eyes or handling your contact lenses.
It's also important to wash your hands and disinfect your contact lenses as instructed. You should also replace your contact lenses as advised by the manufacturer or your doctor. Germs in your contact lenses can lead to bacterial infections of the eye.
The bottom line is living a healthier lifestyle and protecting your eyes from the sun and foreign objects can't protect against every eye condition. But they can all lower your odds of developing a problem that could hurt your vision.
PROTAN COLOR BLINDNESS:
Protan color blindness is a type of color vision deficiency that occurs when the red-sensing pigments of the eyes are either missing or dysfunctional. There are two types of protan color blindness; Protanomaly and protanopia.
Protanomaly is the mild form of red-green color blindness, while protanopia is the more severe form. Even if you have been diagnosed with protan color blindness, small changes to your daily routine can help you live a normal life.
When it lighted all around them, Allah took away their light and left them in utter darkness, so they could not see. Deaf, dumb and blind - so they will not return( to the right path). (Quran; Surah Baqra Verse 17, 18)
Therefore speak I to them in parables; because seeing, they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. (BIBLE Matthew 13:13)
THE WORST FOOD FOR YOUR EYES
What not to eat for good eyesight (webeyecare.com)
It's essential to know what foods to avoid if you want to keep your eyesight as sharp as possible.
SUGAR; Sugar is probably the worst food for eyesight. It's not an exaggeration to say that the more sugar you consume, the worst your eyesight will become over time.
MARGARINE AND VEGETABLE OILS; The chemicals in these man-made products can lead to narrowing of blood vessels, a natural enemy of good eyesight.
FRIED FOODS AND HIGHLY-PROCESSED FOODS; The more saturated fat in foods, the more these foods work to constrict the blood vessels. Avoid food like lunch meat, processed meat, crackers and cookies.
SWEET
DRINKS; These products not only contain sugar, but often high-fructose
corn syrup, which can lead to high blood pressure and the narrowing of
the capillaries that lead to the eyes.
So people who notice changes in their vision should schedule a comprehensive eye exam with an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Early treatment for eye health problems can prevent them from getting worse.
People with vision problems or those with very restrictive diets should talk to an eye health provider about the right food to eat.
According to a US health article (reuters.com 26.09.2019) it's bad news for chocolate lovers, researchers have found that contrary to an earlier report, eating dark chocolate will not improve your vision.
Some of the worst food for eye health are processed food that are heavy in sodium, sugar and unhealthy fats for instance a) Salty foods b) Sweets and c) Foods high in saturated or trans fats.

As you reach 60s and beyond, you need to attentive to warning signs of age related eye health. Many eye diseases have no early symtoms. Therefore, regular eye exams are even more important as you reach your senior years.
Age related Eye and vision problems:
In the years after you turn 60, a number of eye diseases may develop that can change your vision permanently. The earlier these problems are detected and treated, the more likely you can retain good vision. The following are some vision disorders of which you should be aware:
1. Age related macular degeneration; (AMD) is an eye disease affecting the macula, the center of the light sensitive retina at the back of the eye, causing loss of central vision.
2. Diabetic retinopathy; It is a condition occurring in people with diabetes. It is the result of progressive damage to the tiny blood vessels that nourish the retina.
3. Retinal detachment; A detached retina is when the thin layer at the back of your eye (retina) becomes loose. It needs to be treated quickly to stop it permanently affecting your sight.
4. Cateracts; A cateract is the clouding of the lens of the eye which leads to a decrease in vision. Cateracts often develop slowly and can affect one or both eyes. Symptoms may include faded colors, blurry or double vision, halos around light, trouble with bright lights and trouble seeing at night.
5. Glaucoma; Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, the health of which is vital for good vision. This damage is often caused by an abnormally high pressure in your eye. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness for people over the age of 60.
6. Dry eye; Dry eye is a condition associated with inadequate tear production and marked by redness, itching and burning of the eye. - called dry eye syndrome.
Causes of weak eyesight: Some of the most common causes of low vision include age-related macular degeneration, diabetes and glaucoma. Low vision may also result from disease of the eye, albinism, brain injury or inherited disorders of the eye including retinitis pigmentosa.
Warning signs for eye problem;
Call your doctor if you experience any of the following changes in your eyes:
1. Change in iris colour.
2. Crossed eyes.
3. Dark spot in the center of your field of vision.
4. Difficulty focusing on near or distant objects.
5. Double vision.
6. Dry eyes with itching or burning.
7. Episodes of cloudy vision.

Rest your eyes and get enough sleep!
Conclusion
Eyes are the light of your body so take special care. Eat the food which is good for the eyes and avoid fatty, sugary and processed food. Avoid rubbing your eyes too hard or too often.
Take regular breaks by computer works and other tasks that mostly involve your eyes. Follow the 20-20-20 rule. Close your eyes for a few seconds from time to time and look away for a while.
Wear your glasses and sunglasses for outdoors to protect your eyes. Get regular eye check-up at least once in a year and drink enough water.
In my opinion, your eyes are the best gifts of nature and taking care of them is your duty. Understand the importance of your eyes. Protect them, better your eyesight and improve your vision. To know the real value of your eyes is to imagine an existence without your eyes!
